New 2026 format — one round per day through Championship Sunday
Zane Navratil's seed doesn't reflect his talent — he's a former world #2 who always shows up in singles. Austen Harvey is a solid player but Navratil's power game and big-match experience make this a genuine coin flip. The most dangerous Round 1 matchup in the men's draw.
Kate Fahey inherits the #1 seed with ALW sitting out singles. Zoe Weil is no walkover — she's a gritty competitor who could make this uncomfortable. Fahey should advance but might need three games to do it.
Ben Johns may have skipped singles but he's here in doubles with new partner Gabriel Tardio — the most intriguing new partnership of 2026. Harvey and Campbell are outmatched but this is our first look at how Johns and Tardio mesh on court.
Anna Bright and Anna Leigh Waters are the clear favorites in women's doubles and should handle this opener comfortably. Summers and Brown will try to slow the pace but the talent gap is too wide. Watch for how sharp Bright/Waters look in their 2026 debut.
Tyson McGuffin at seed 40 is absurd — he's a former PPA champion with one of the best two-handed backhands in the game. Zane Ford has been rising but McGuffin's DUPR of 6.78 tells the real story. This is the bracket buster waiting to happen.
Catherine Parenteau teams with Gabe Tardio in mixed — a dangerous combo of Parenteau's touch and Tardio's power. They should roll here, but keep an eye on this team deep in the bracket. Tardio playing with both Johns AND Parenteau this week shows his stock is sky-high.
